1973

At the age of eight, Crawford J. Bennett was introduced to woodworking for the first time while visiting his grandparents in Maple Shade, New Jersey. Named after his grandfather, who just so happened to be a carpenter, Crawford was born to be a woodworking craftsman.

1982

Crawford's parents retired and moved his family from New Jersey to Florida, where he would finish school and meet his future wife.

1987

1987 was the turning point for not only Crawford's career, but for his life as well. In April of that year, Crawford married his high school sweetheart. Later on in December, he opened up Bennett's Custom Wood Furniture, turning his craft from a hobby into a real business.

From the start of Bennett's Custom Wood Furniture to now there have been many changes made and obstacles faced. Crawford has spent the last 30 years not only honing his craft, but also defining his vision for Bennett's. Being part of a dying breed, it has been hard for Crawford to find any skilled laborers to help scale his production. For years he has been a one man show, and in that he found his mission. Instead of building a machine that pumps out cookie cutter furniture, Crawford builds every piece custom with his artisan style, all with domestic materials. Quality over quantity. His goal is to exceed every clients' expectations and deliver a unique product that will last for generations. He has been doing just that for over 30 years, and the quality of his work is what has helped him through multiple recessions as a small business owner. Bennett's Custom Wood Furniture has only been around because of the dedication put into every single custom piece that Crawford makes, and it will be around exceeding expectations for years to come.
